Marcos Marado Torres has extensive experience in Systems Engineering, lately more focused on the development of Operating Systems and Hardware.
He was for several years the President of ANSOL - the Portuguese Association for Free Software, and has a huge interest and passion for Social Computing areas, like Free Software, Security, Anonimity and Digital Rights.
He is fluent in Portuguese and English.

He was an Android and Infrastructure Engineer at Convergent Evolution, being involved in several projects for different clients.
He was a Systems Engineer at Cyanogen, being responsible for the integration and support of Cyanogen OS in several platforms and devices.
Since February 2007 he started working as Services Architect on the IT/IS department of Optimus, now NOS, being the manager of several services and systems, both in their conception and evulution, as well as the infrastructure of services and networks supporting them. His work was mostly focused on the design and coordination of the implementation of the architecture of solutions for several systems and services, being expected from him high levels of autonomy, leadership, coordination with other teams, and decision-making skills.
He was a Computer Analys, working as a Programmer in the Project Development team of SonaeCom ISP, belonging to the Information Systems division of SonaeCom. He was involved in projects for several SonaeCom business utits: Novis, Clix and Optimus. He dealt mainly with the Perl programming language (Mason, Template Toolkit, SOAP::Lite), Oracle and MySQL databases, and Apache httpd webservers. His work was mostly focused on the development of Information Systems, from their core to the presentation layers, and in the development of services connecting to those systems.
Worked on MagicBrain - Internet Services Provider as a Computer Systems Analyst, accumulating Project Management, Systems Administration, Network Administration, Database Administration and Programmer (standalone and web-based software) duties. As a programmer, he worked mostly with PHP, MySQL and Apache. As a Systems Administrator, he worked mostly with GNU/Linux systems, specially Debian, Mandrake and Fedora. Having done his degree internship on this company, he wrote about different Software Engineering paradigms, and when to apply them, speaking of UML, RUP, PERT/CPM networks, Gantt charts, CMM, SPICE, and giving a special focus to Agile Software Development.
Worked as a Computer Systems Analyst on Unione, acting in several roles, like Team Leader, Project Manager, Database and Systems Administrator and Programmer. As a Programmer, he dealt mostly with PHP, MySQL and Apache. As a Systems Administrator, he managed GNU/Linux (Mandrake) and Microsoft Windows systems.
Concluded the five years Degree in Informatics Engineering at the University of Coimbra.
